In this post: Albert Pujols, Ryan Franklin, Stan Musial, Yadier Molina
- During the “second chance” All-Star Game ticket sales, I was able to get a single ticket strip in the right field bleachers.
- I attended the Fan Fest on Friday evening. Most of the lines were really long, so I just browsed around and took in the sights. I enjoyed all of the old memorabilia and trophies on display.
- I skipped the Futures Game on Sunday, which was a good decision considering the four hour plus rain delay. I was happy to see Brett Wallace (2 walks) and Daryl Jones (1 for 2, with a run scored) do well in the game while watching it from home though.
- Albert Pujols’ fan-assisted home run was one of my favorite moments from the Home Run Derby on Monday night, especially since it helped him make the second round. I wasn’t too disappointed that he didn’t win though, because Prince Fielder and Nelson Cruz put on a good show.
- Ryan Franklin was impressive in his one inning of work in the All-Star Game, and Yadier Molina delivered a 2-out RBI hit to help the National League tie the game early. Pujols was hitless and had an error that led to a run for the American League, but he made a couple of slick defensive plays later to make up for it.
- All in all, I enjoyed the All-Star experience. Working downtown, I was able to watch the transformation of the city as it prepared for the game. It was a quite exciting time.
